GoDaddy.com website hosting and domain registration review and discount coupon codes

GoDaddy is best known as one of the oldest discount domain registrars. They slashed domain name prices at a time when most other domain registrars were still trying to charge prices upwards of $15. Today GoDaddy offers .com domain names for $10. You will be billed in your local currency if you use your credit card. Most credit cards issued by credit card companies are international credit cards and can be used on the internet. If you have a domain registered at some other domain registrar and transfer to to GoDaddy you can do it for $7 and they'll give you a one year extension free.

When you visit the GoDaddy website you'll find all prices quoted in your local currency. For instance, if you're from India all prices will be in rupees. Apart from the usual .com/.net/.org/.in extensions there are dozens of other domain name extensions you'll find on GoDaddy.com.

GoDaddy offers a wide range of products including domain registration, web hosting, dedicated servers, email accounts, site builders, web design & logo design services, merchant accounts, SSL certificates and a lot else. You can even start your own private label domain registration if you sign up for their Wild West Domains reseller plan.

One thing we like about GoDaddy domain name registration apart from the low prices is that when you pay for a service with your credit card or using a Paypal account you can choose to be billed every year the same way. You're sent a reminder about a month ahead of time and then you get billed. This is very useful with domain name registrations and web hosting services. You don't want to lose your company domain name just because the renewal email ended up in your spam folder or you were travelling and forgot to renew. With GoDaddy this won't happen, as long as your credit is valid or your Paypal account is current your domain name or web hosting account gets renewed. To date, there have been hundreds of thousands of cases where people have lost domain names because they forgot to renew it and some domain squatter grabbed it. You can get bulk discounts from GoDaddy if you register or transfer several domains at once. If you choose to, you can also protect your name in the whois records of GoDaddy using thr privacy feature. That way no one knows who the domain name belongs to. Some people use this feature to proetct themselves from spam. GoDaddy also holds auctions on its website where you can bid for domain names that are being sold by their owners in the auction marketplace.

GoDaddy also offers web hosting services. You can choose between virtual web hosting or dedicated server hosting. For most businesses virtual web hosting works best. Dedicated servers are meant for large websites or those expecting a huge amount of traffic or those with security concerns. It also meets the requirements of those looking for mission-critical hosting or those with a lot of online e-commerce transactions. GoDaddy also offers blog and Podcast web hosting.

From the virtual web hosting plans you can choose between the Economy Plan, Deluxe Plant and Unlimited Plan. You can choose between Linux and Windows Platforms. Both cost exactly the same. Unless you have a reason to opt for Windows, we suggest you opt for Linux for hosting your websites. If you're planning a database driven website, the Linux plan will come with support for PHP and MySQL.

The Economy Plan offered by GoDaddy offers

10 GB Space
300 GB Data Transfer
Plan Features
100 Email Accounts
FREE! Software
10 MySQL Databases
50 Email Forwards
Forums, Blogging, Photos
Go Daddy Hosting Connection
$20 Google® AdWords® Credit1
$25 Microsoft® adCenter Credit†
$50 Facebook® Ad Credit††
FREE! Google Webmaster Tools

This costs $5 a month. GoDaddy doesn't charge any setup fee for its web hostingaccounts. You'll get additional discounts for 12 month/24 month/36 month subscriptions.

The GoDaddy Deluxe Plan offers everything that the Economy Plan offers. The difference is that you get more space - 150 Gb disk space versus 10 GB in the GoDaddy Economy Plan. This disk space offered is unrealistically huge. If you're planning a very large website with hundreds of thousands of pages, a $5 hosting account won't do anyway. Yet, the offer of such resources inspires a confidence in the quality of hosting. The Deluxe Plan also gets you more MySQL accounts and additional data transfer. This plan costs $7 a month.

The GoDaddy Unlimited Plan offers unlimited disk space and unlimited data transfer. You also get unlimited email accounts and MySQL databases apart from a free SSL certificate. This plan costs $15 a month.

We strongly recommend that you opt for atleast the Deluxe Plan at GoDaddy because the Economy Plan doesn't support Perl and you may not be able to run even simple CGI scripts using Perl. CGI scripts can be used for tracking visitor statistics and creating feedback forms. The Economy Plan doesn't support Python, Java, Ruby on Rails. Besides it will let you host only one website whereas the Deluxe Plan lets you host unlimited websites. The billing is monthly and there's no minimum period you have to buy hosting for. You can pay month-to-month and your Paypal account or credit card can be billed automatically till you cancel. Another good reason to prefer the Deluxe Plan over the Economy Plan is that you get free Microsoft AdCenter credit of $50 in the Deluxe Plan versus $25 in the Economy Plan.

You can see the wide range of features offered by GoDaddy at their official website. GoDaddy virtual hosting is an excellent solution if you're looking for a stable host for your blog, forum, company website or personal website. It may not meet the requirement of high-traffic (more than 10,000 visitors a day) shopping websites unless you decide to opt for one of their dedicated servers. It is better suited for small and medium traffic websites with traffic less than 5000 visitors every day.

GoDaddy Web Hosting

Thanks for this useful article (and actually a current, article!). I was Googling GoDaddy web hosting to confirm that I made good choices a few months ago when I got the Deluxe Hosting on Linux. According to you, I did, especially because I do use cgi scripts and the economy plan doesn't support that. I appreciate it.
