OmniPage Professional 16 Coupon Code and Review - Time Saving Features from Nuance

OmniPage Professional 16 is the latest version of the OCR software from Nuance. They have been into development of OCR Software since 1988, that's over two decades.

What we like most about this version of OmniPage Professional 16 are the time-saving features. This software will save hours and hours of work. You can better spend that time doing anything else - watching television if you will! What used to take several hours earlier can now be done in a fraction of that time thanks to automated tasks and efficient scanning.

The scanning efficiency of OmniPage Professional 16 remains very high. After the initial installation of OmniPage you can get down to scanning documents. On scanning the user gets an option to choose from three views - Classic, Flexible, and QuickConvert. There is an elaborate description of each type. To cut to the chase, Classic, Flexible and QuickConvert modes are for experts, familiar users and new users. If you're a new user and choose QuickConvert, you're taken through the scanning process step-by-step. There are pop-up menus which tell you the buttons to be pressed to get the task done. You can choose between options of scanning images or text and color, black and white or grayscale. If you're doing an OCR scan it's generally recommended that you choose grayscale.

When you convert an image to text, you can save to a pre-specified folder. You can save the text to .txt format, .rtf format, .doc format or .PDF format. You can choose from Plain Text, Formatted Text, True Page, and Flowing Page options. 'True Text' is useful when scanning text distributed across columns in books and newspapers for instance. While the number of options presented by OmniPage Professional 16 may appear a little intimidating when you're reading this, it really makes life much easier. The 'True Text' feature alone is a huge time saver. Some versions back, you had to choose one column at a time when scanning and it would take much longer to scan an entire document. If a page had three columns scanning each individually meant three times the effort and time. If you delegate the task to someone within your company, a single scan job can save enough time to recover the cost of the entire software. If you're considering an upgrade, by all means go for it.

The accuracy of the scanning is impressive. There were virtually no errors in the entire scan and that is commendable considering that in the days of OmniPage 6, after a scan had been completed someone had to sit down and make all the corrections comparing it to the original. Now that's completely unnecessary, another major time-saving aspect.

The 'Flexible View' option in OmniPage Professional 16 has several options that you choose. You can automate the sequences of tasks for specific types of documents. The wizard is very helpful in doing this. You can perform OCR automatically, save files to a specific folder in the format you specify, proof read them automatically, prompting you for words it does not recognize. This is as automated as any OCR software can be! Again, this is a feature that saves a tremendous amount of time. You can even have OmniPage Professional 16 go on the internet and send out files via FTP, automatically or download files using an FTP connection or from a specified folder.

Proof reading within OmniPage is not as convenient as it would be in a word processing software of the caliber of Microsoft Word. The box you get when previewing is a little small and correcting spellings is somewhat tedious. The other aspect which disappoints is that the interface of this software remains similar to earlier versions. Those who have been using it over the years will find themselves on familiar turf and quite at-home with it. New users may find the interface to be a little old in its layout.

If you have access to some other word processing software like Microsoft Office or Open Office, you will be unaffected by the proof reading troubles in OmniPage Professional 16. We recommend this software for its flawless scanning and time-saving features. It’s hard to think of any software in this category that can match OmniPage Professional in these two areas.
